The game
Warhammer 40k is a fantasy role playing game where you are the commander of a powerful army capable of seizing or defending whole planets. The game requires skill in strategy and a lot of patience. A game can take as long as 8 hours. In case you don't know this is a board game, but the board can be anywhere from 6-8 feet long and 4-8 feet wide. The game could be comparable to chess only the pieces have guns. There are a few different races that you can be. You can be human of course, either the superhuman Space Marines, or the almost equally powerful Sisters of Battle, or the tank heavy Imperial guard. All of the human races are part of the Imperium. Or you can be the Tyranads who are insect-like creatures who have evolved to kill. or the alien Elder or Dark Elder. Or the human traitors possesed by the powers of Chaos. The game gets very involved in rules and story-lines. But it is fun and exciting to play. The figures you use to play are a hobby in themselves and require some skill to paint. A model can sometimes take 2 hours to paint but it is worth the effort. |
